Audience Member It starts out with a prosecutor who convicts an innocent man that results in him being electrocuted. One of the funniest scenes I have ever witnessed is when prosecutor and his boss are calling the prison to stop the execution because they have learned his innocence and they find out that they are too late. As the prosecutor says that he is going to resign the boss says " son that's not the way to go out, its sad sure, but there is a 1;10,000 chance in this kind of miscarriage of justice." No wonder the world hates lawyers if a 1 in 10,000 is an acceptable number in most anything. Imagine if a company says there is a 1 in 10,000 chance you will get sick from bad meat or that a pill will fail the lawyers would be all over that faster than the telephone connection to their accountant. Warren William is Vince Day the DA who becomes the corrupt lawyer and who defines sleaze in all the best ways. He takes a known poison in the courtroom, marking the time it will take affect on his watch hidden from the jury, just to get a client off. When the jury comes back with an innocent conviction he is rushed to his office to get his stomach pumped. It takes a young girl from Kentucky, Sidney Fox as Celia, to get him to change his heart and realize that he is tired of this life. Once he makes his stand against the criminals they of course are angered by this and seek retribution by way of his life. Aline MacMahon is great as his secretary, the tough as nails woman who still has a big heart, yes it is cliche but in this case she does it right.
