Courier Mail Staff Courier Mail (Australia) Virginia Mayo, as the runaway princess, has a tuneful voice, a pretty face, and more acting ability than is needed in a swashbuckling extravaganza. Audience Member A fun screwball comedy with Bob Hope excellently leading the cast Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Silly but quite good Bob Hope comedy where he and Virginia Mayo are on the run from pirate Victor McLaglen. The great Walter Brennan also plays a pirate to great comedic effect. Bob Hope doesn't get enough respect nowadays. I wasn't a huge fan of his stand-up, but as a comedic film actor, I think he was great. I also quite liked Virginia Mayo, who I really only remember from a couple westerns. I think I'd like to see her in more stuff. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member awesome pirate parady pic that's 3 in a row! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of my favorite Bob Hope movies. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Bob Hope at his best. Virginia Mayo drop dead gorgeous. Funny as can be. Slyvester: "I'll chop off his liver! Say, that might be pretty good, chopped liver". Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member MY FAVORITE BOB HOPE FILM, WONDERFULLY WRITTEN. GREAT SUPPORT FROM WALTER BRENNAN.
