Filmmaker Justin (Michael Stahl-David) decides to explore life in a crime-plagued neighborhood in Brooklyn, N.Y., for his next project. While Justin shadows two police officers who patrol the local streets, he enlists his friend John (Nicholas Webber) and his girlfriend, Dana (Jamie Proctor), to follow a pair of young men trying to escape the ghetto. But, when their subjects get involved with a menacing drug dealer, the documentarians find themselves drawn dangerously into their own drama.

Audience Member An interesting idea with its heart in the right place, but the style is inappropriate for the gravity of the subject matter. The Project ultimately comes across looking stupid. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member If I was a documentary filmaker going to or even thinking about filming a subject in the hood, This movie would definitely have me thinking again Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Though the story relies a little too much on coincidence, the film has some interesting things to say regarding the relationship between the documentarian and their subject. The performances are all quite good and the direction builds as it goes along, allowing for some real tension to creep in.
