Stephen C LOL, the funniest 1 5/6 hours ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/25/22 Full Review Audience Member Simply awful...boring characters and script not worthy of the stars. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member The past is a foreign country, or so they say... And you definitely need to get all your shots and pack a cultural mosquito net to handle this film... But underneath a lot of out-culture, misogyny, and generally not super-modern takes on vulnerability and the human condition... This movie stands up, is genuinely emotional and genuinely funny. For all the absurdity of character, they nevertheless feel like real people, and I found myself rooting for almost all of them by the end. Honestly, watching movies like this makes it clear that by invoking a diversity and equality litmus test, and holding everyone to it strictly... Well, we lose a lot of well-meaning shades of grey, and room to be forgiven our mistakes. Would I rather live in the world of this movie than the one I inhabit? Not at those 1972 gas prices! But... Maybe I'd rather hang out on any given night with a curmudgeonly Jack Lemmon than a virtuous Stephen Colbert? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A pretty good 1970's comedy with some clever, spicy jokes. The sequences with the animated characters mixed with live action are alone enough to make the movie worth watching. I'd recommend this one to any Jack Lemmon fan. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review kevin w Jack Lemmon tries his best to warm us up to this ever-so-cynical, dyed-in-the-wool cynic, but its an all uphill job as he plays a cartoonist interrupted by love. I kept asking myself why does Harris' character put up with him? The story here seems all over the place and perhaps there were too many cooks on the job. Whatever, save this uncomfortable-to-watch bit for a rain day. And the James Thurber connection is best left forgotten. Tasha Robinson The Dissolve [W]hat differentiates [The War Between Men and Women] from the Knocked Ups of the world is how uproarious the funny parts get, in part because they're so daringly nasty, and how authentic and well-earned the ending seems by comparison. Rated: 4.5/5 Feb 6, 2014 Full Review Robert Sullivan Los Angeles Free Press All of the performances are excellent, especially those of Lemmon. Jan 8, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
