Elly is asked by a family friend to spend a few days looking after an elderly woman living in a remote cabin. She readily agrees, thinking a short trip to the woods will be a nice escape. The cabin turns out to be anything but relaxing as Elly begins hallucinating in ways that blur reality with her dreams. As the visions take over, Elly realizes that she was lured there by a demonic presence hiding inside of the woman just waiting to break free.

"...while walking a well-trod path for movies in the demons-and-witches genre, [The Accursed] still manages to boil with toil and trouble. Bad news for its less fortunate characters but great for lovers of classic blood and gore." Go to Full Review

[The Accursed] is completely lost. It is completely devoid of internal structure. The film is not knowing what to tell, and that is immediately noticeable. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The Accursed is full of half-baked ideas that are terribly mishandled. The acting is subpar. There's hardly anything scary about this low-quality horror flick, which has a fixation on showing disgusting things coming out of elderly women's mouths. Go to Full Review

It kicks off with a terrific opening scene, but that promise is soon dashed as this horror movie rolls out dull characters and predictable plot turns. Ultimately it winds up feeling overly familiar and half-hearted. Go to Full Review

Lewis is no help, keeping this exceedingly dull tale of trauma and dark magic crawling along, showing surprisingly little interest in thrilling viewers for the Halloween season. Go to Full Review

FRANS G Mar 23 Not a bad horror movie, but it could have been a lot better. There are some genuine creepy scenes and the atmosphere is decent. The lead character seems a bit dense though as she seems to ignore all the warning signs and goes following every strange and creepy noise/sound. Good looking cast though. See more William J Jan 26 I absolutely loved this movie. If you are into demonic horror with a nonstop feeling of dread from the moment it starts, this is it. The actresses are likeable and the locations very creepy. The creepy old demon possessed lady is very scary. A girl takes a job to care for a creepy old woman. Her friend takes her out there and tries to get her to change her mind. The job seems completely off and she doesn't trust the the lady who asks her to do the caretaking job, but her friend takes the job anyways. A history of witchcraft and demon curses unfolds the nightmare. I didn't think there was a dull moment here. Non stop action, creeps, chills, and blood and guts. A very unsettling and gory film. See more Craig B @Boundsy 09/01/2024 The Accursed is a decent enough horror movie with some chilling moments, as long as you go in with mid level expectations. A reasonable cast and a decent plot make for a not entirely terrible viewing experience as suggested by many of the reviews. Whilst there are plenty of superior horror movies featuring demons and occult themes, The Accursed is creepy enough to keep you engaged during its not overly long runtime, passing the time without leaving you with lasting memories. See more Pierre-Luc H 04/14/2024 I decided to watch this movie without even knowing its title, as I chose it randomly based on the poster, which looked pretty cool. Although far from being the movie of the year, "The Accursed" was quite entertaining. The actresses' performances were decent, but that's not necessarily why you watch this kind of film. It's a good way to pass the time, with a glass of wine (or two), some candles, and a gloomy atmosphere; I enjoyed myself. Did I love it? Meh, not really, but I didn't hate it either!
