Christopher A. If you were a child in the late 80s or early 90s, chances are you have a warm, fuzzy spot in your heart for Milo and Otis. The tale of an adventurous orange tabby kitten and his pug-nosed canine best friend is a simple, charming story of friendship and perseverance. On the surface, Milo and Otis is a delightful, almost silent-film-style adventure. The narrative is straightforward: curious Milo gets carried down a river in a box, and his loyal friend Otis embarks on a long, perilous journey to find him. The film is driven by Dudley Moore's warm, witty narration, which gives personality and voice to the animals' antics and struggles. The cinematography is often breathtaking, capturing the rustic beauty of the Japanese countryside (where the film was originally made) and the raw, untamed power of the ocean and wilderness. The true stars are the animals themselves. The sequences of Milo tussling with a crab, Otis confronting a grumpy bear, and both of them discovering the wonders and dangers of the world are undeniably engaging for a young audience. It’s a film that teaches simple lessons about loyalty, bravery, and the joy of reunion. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/25 Full Review Patrick J. P A children's classic and Dudley Moore makes a great narrator. As far as the animal abuse allegations, all are unfounded. Unless evidence comes to light that anything bad happened, my children will continue to enjoy this heartwarming film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/10/25 Full Review Gabriel M I remember seeing this when I was in middle school during spring break, it was on PBS kids sprout. I enjoyed it. But now back in 2019, when I google searched it and discovered the dark side that some of the animals when making this film had died. It upsets me very badly. Thank God I didn’t waste my $5 on this movie when I saw the dvd at Meijer. Around 2 years later in 2021, I tried watching it but turned it off less than a few minutes later and felt annoyed with the narrator’s voice. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/19/25 Full Review Laura D I always loved this movie when I was younger. As a adult I still love the movie . My cat even loves the movie . After knowing what happened to the animals that was dark . I might not watch it anymore. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/25 Full Review Zixmix B This movie was my childhood. I named my first cat Milo. But I also love the silly voice over done by the narrator for all the animal, the charming story in general and the wild tale of these two unlikely friends who get caught up in an adventure trying to reunite and then go home again. Only four and a half stars though because of two things. One, now that I’m older I totally can tell they used a lot of different cats as the main character (I think maybe I just know cats better now that I have had a few and all those tabbies have different patterns, lol) and two because oh my gosh I forgot they literally SHOWED THE BIRTH of some animals on this movie. Wild. As a kid I think I either was just like, “Ew that happened” or was fascinated and then thought the kittens were cute haha! But it definitely was not expected. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/25 Full Review Elliana H Cute movie but the backgroud on how they made it sucks Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/28/25 Full Review Read all reviews
