Audience Member Written directly for the screen this is properly the best of the Tintin films. Not because it's the best of the stories but because it in some way functions better on film than the ones that were adapted from the original comics. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member though it might not be the greatest Tintin adventure, but it is definitely a first impression for me. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Words can hardly express how much I enjoyed myself (re)watching this animated movie. I set my alarm clock to watch it on early-morning Belgian TV, and didnâ(TM)t regret that decision for a single minute. This movie version of one of the Tintin albums just has it all: it looks nice (beautiful semi-transparent colours which make the whole thing seem ârealâ? despite the kind of unrealistic Ligne clair style of drawing so typical of Hergà (C)), it is, what one could call, action-packed, the story is very reminiscent of the time period the movie was made in (early seventies): it is almost like watching a childrenâ(TM)s version of a Bond movie, complete with megalomaniac villain (good old Rastapopoulos!), underwater headquarters equiped with all sorts of gadgets and surrounded by sharks, foreign countries and cultures with helpful (and less helpful) locals, border conflicts tying the hands of the local police force, a mysterious invention done by Professor Calculus (which the villain is hot on), dozens of the villainâ(TM)s minions, making life difficult for our beloved heroes (dressed as frogmen or otherwise), stolen art objects from museums to be replaced by fakes, etc., etc. But what would Tintin be without his good old friends Haddock and Snowy? Not to mention the opera singer Bianca Castafiore and some others, like billionaire Laszlo Careidas (from the album entitled âFlight 714â?) who makes an almost Hitchcokian cameo appearance in the opening scene at the airport. The makers of this movie really did their utmost to squeeze in as much Tintin as one could possible handle in 81 minutes. More than any of the identifiable and demonstrable features mentioned above, this movie oozes the real Tintin feeling which is also conveyed by all the comic-strip albums about the good, but not at all gullible reporter from Brussels, and which every ardent Tintin fan will recognize. I am looking forward to Spielbergâ(TM)s undoubtedly splendid production later this year, but I wonder if any North-American will be capable of recreating the atmosphere that is so very much Tintin and which can arguably only be sensed by (continental) Europeans of a certain generation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review samitha b loved these a lot when I was little Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I too prefer the Nelvana Adaptation of the original Comic Book Series. The animation and voices in shark lake are unnatural. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I prefer the Nelvana Adaptation of the original Comic Book Series.
