      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Age of Adaline ruminates on mortality less compellingly than similarly themed films, but is set apart by memorable performances from Blake Lively and Harrison Ford.

Sugilite E Bad ending,I was rooting for Ellis Dad For Adeline.🤷 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review William L Interesting, moves along at a quick pace and Blake Lively is awesome to watch act coquettish & reticent due to her circumstances. Liked the conclusion as well Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review James A The Age of Adaline is just kind of....okay. It's fine to sit through if you're in the mood for a mystery/drama. Competently made, but the film lacks the power & energy needed to become memorable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Diana A Interesting premise, but am I the only one bothered by the fact that she slept with the father and then ended up with the son?!? NO ONE in the movie seems bothered by this, feels icky. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Steve D Not as deep as it thinks it is. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Audience Member I’m a sucker for these movies. If you get caught up in the “science” of the movie then stfu, we don’t want you here! Blake Lively and Harrison Ford kill it here. Literally timeless performances. You really get sucked in to the sorrow of unending life and how that can influence decisions and other peoples lives forever. The story, acting and editing of this film is top notch. Definitely would love a sequel but the ending is a nice bow to tie off the movie. Some things doing work for me, like the side characters but they do serve their purpose of showing depth in these people’s lives. They just don’t really serve the story as much, like Ellis’s sister didn’t need to be here. Also the narrator not being someone of importance is a missed opportunity. All that being said, a solid movie worth the time if you’re even somewhat interested. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint The unhurried storytelling matches Adaline's endless life, making this a respectable date movie. Aug 15, 2019 Full Review Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic Like Adaline, the film gives the sense of being somewhat uncomfortable in 2015, but while the movie makes a case for romanticizing the past, Adaline's story shows the limitations of detaching yourself from the present. Dec 31, 2015 Full Review Jocelyn Noveck Associated Press Lively is appealing, natural and often touching. Dec 30, 2015 Full Review Ruth Maramis FlixChatter Film Blog There’s a genuine sweetness and charm in this fantasy romance that sweeps me off my feet. Lively does a fine job carrying this film with her beauty and grace. Rated: 4/5 Jan 10, 2024 Full Review Jane Freebury The Canberra Times (Australia) A silly movie that takes itself too seriously. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 29, 2022 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson "The Age of Adaline" greatly works as meet-in-the-middle compromise date movie that easily works for women and doesn't have enough really awful parts to scare away the men.
