Jerome V Wonderful little movie. It's an intelligently written and directed love story about two imperfect opposites who find one another. The lead actor, Owen Beckman, conveys sincerity and warmth throughout, and reminded me at times of a young Billy Crudup. His counterpart is the equally talented Gretchen Lodge. It's refreshing to see a movie like this. Writer-Director Aimee Graham understands the nuances of human relationships. Kudos to the cinematographer and composer as well. And David Koechner and Justine Bateman round out the cast! This indie film is well worth watching and I loved it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Seana K Such a great character study, nice acting -- VERY well directed and written. I found myself surprised to be taken in by the story and world, it was totally effective, on an emotional level.  I liked that the characters weren't instantly 'likeable', that you had to sort of grown into them, it made it all the more engaging when the film starts to turn.  Great job -- a really nicely done, unique and interesting indie film! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review Andrew W The Allnighter is an engaging drama written and directed by Aimee Graham making her feature debut. We follow the story of Terrance played by Owen Beckman. Within minutes of the film beginning, we get the impression Terrance isn't living his best life. When he's not dodging threats from loan sharks who are after his gambling addict mother and having awkward moments as he drives for Uber transporting people he can't stand, Terrance is obsessively completing his PHD in astro physic's which he has been working on for the last seven years. When Terrance's car is stolen with his life's work inside the trunk he suffers an existential crisis which propels himself on somewhat of a spiritual odyssey to get it back in order to seize the future he wants as opposed to the suffocating present he's trapped in. It's hard to find any real critical faults in this one. The cinematography is beautiful and Owen Beckman who plays the films protagonist Terrance commands the screen holding his own against more experienced and established Hollywood actors like David Koesche (Anchor Man) and Tom Lister Junior (Good Friday). Aimee wrote the characters very well and clearly took her time choosing the right actors because you can't help but feel empathy for every single one of them even when they say and do some pretty questionable things. She effortlessly avoids the kind of pitfalls most directors fall consciously avoids cliche scenarios and neatly tied up endings in favor of something both heartbreaking heart wrenching optimistic and relatable. As Alfred Hitchcock put it "What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out" There were no dull bits in the Allnighter. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/07/24 Full Review Artist E Pure magic, man. It hits that sweet note that keeps the story buzzin' long after it's done. This ain't your run-of-the-mill flick, nah-it's a ride that stays kickin' in your mind. I leave it two thumbs up! Check it out. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/23 Full Review Joe C Yo, peep this: The Allnighter ain't your regular flick—it's indie gold blending comedy and drama, serving up real characters hustling through that adulting game. Terence, played by Owen Beckman, and Belle, played by Gretchen Lodge, bring that realness, flaws and all, but they still shine bright and likable, you feel me? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/23 Full Review Bob R The Allnighter," directed by Aimee Graham, is a captivating indie gem that defies expectations. . Graham skillfully blends humor and heart, creating a narrative that resonate. This movie seamlessly weaves science and soul, keeping you hooked from start to finish. The acting is a standout, with performances that breathe life into the characters. Cinematography in this indie piece is a visual feast. The music score is the heartbeat of the film, perfectly complementing the emotional highs and lows. With stellar performances and a plot that defies gravity, "The Allnighter" is a cosmic escapade that's as entertaining as it is thought-provoking. Buckle up for a cinematic journey that's truly out of this world. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
