Gerard T Guy Seemann has been practicing active listening and searching for practical solutions to universal social issues for over 20 years. The American Question rightly identifies how the political divide in America and the heightened anxiety that comes with it leads to the untethering of personal bonds and community. I have experienced this personally to a degree as well. This documentary has reminded me to hold on to life-long friendships even if we subscribe to different political philosophies and has guided me how to rekindle friendships that have cooled in part to politics. Being born after The Vietnam War, the past few years have been the most politically charged I have ever lived. The American Question outlines why we feel more politically divided, but, having watched the movie, I am more inspired to believe that we, American and global citizens alike, have far more that unites us than divides us and that we can work with each other, for each other. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/19/24 Full Review Chaya H Illuminating. Provides a path to understanding and moving forward. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Ellis W This movie was dope and I learned a lot. Guy Seeman you my dawg! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Yoela P American Question is a powerful documentary that explores the deepening political divide in the U.S. and the hostility it has created. Through interviews with people from all political backgrounds, the film shows that, despite our differences, we share common values and concerns. It highlights how media and political rhetoric have fueled divisions, but also offers a hopeful message: unity is key to moving the nation forward. Rather than offering easy solutions, the documentary urges viewers to engage in more meaningful dialogue and to focus on what unites us. In a time of increasing polarization, American Question is a timely and thought-provoking reminder that empathy, understanding, and collective effort are the paths to healing and progress. It’s a must-watch for anyone seeking to bridge the political divide and build a more unified America. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Marty B A well thought-out, unbiased, provocative and heartfelt view of our political division's history, impact, and thoughts on repair. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/22/24 Full Review Audience Member In this time of intractable political divide and high anxiety for all, this film gives a thoughtful deep dive into the roots and possible means to heal the divide. The filmmakers span the past 8 years through personal interviews over time and academic perspectives. Moving, distressing, and finally -- hopeful. Highly recommended viewing!!
