Peter Sobczynski RogerEbert.com Sadly, it ultimately builds to a would-be shocking twist that is not nearly the game-changer it claims to be, leaving viewers with more questions than answers. Rated: 2/4 Oct 18, 2025 Full Review Catherine Bray Guardian The Astronaut has a lot going for it, but, like the lead character in the opening scenes, it doesn’t quite stick the landing. Rated: 3/5 Sep 16, 2025 Full Review Lovia Gyarkye The Hollywood Reporter Varley’s grip, her taut observation of nerve-wracking isolation, loosens and the film devolves into a blunt and clichéd consideration of family. The transition is awkward, and more cartoonish than moving, as the performers try to regain their footing. Mar 21, 2025 Full Review Michael Gingold Rue Morgue Magazine What’s missing for most of the running time is a sense that movie is about anything more than it appears on the surface. Oct 18, 2025 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue As it unravels a mystery with potentially widespread ramifications, the bold twist at the end seems to come from another planet. Oct 17, 2025 Full Review Julian Roman MovieWeb The Astronaut confounds and intrigues as a completely illogical narrative leads to a whopper conclusion. Most will find it ridiculous, but suspending disbelief does allow for a modicum of thrills. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 17, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Gerard M Throughout the movie there were constant "flaws" that made no sense. Why didn't she have the typical "motherly instinct"? Why would she be in a house in the wilderness alone after being injured and forced to return from space? How come she didn't have anything to protect herself? No guards either? It all comes together beautifully at the very end, including her father's weird behavior. This is NOT your typical alien movie so keep an open mind. Well done! 👍👍 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/20/25 Full Review Cassie T I was not prepared to cry my eyes out at the end!!! This made me feel all the feels. Seriously unique even while paying homage to other directors. Feel like this warrants a second watch too now knowing the twist. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/20/25 Full Review Michael G This movie went from being really boring in the first two acts to really stupid in the last act. I was expecting it to be better. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/25 Full Review Bardia R I watched this movie last night and I think it's has good story but they couldn't make this story satisfying and unfortunately despite of having good story and having high potential for being good movie but because this movie had very hard slow-paced and the performance of cast members weren't good too. Personally I kinda like the main cast of this movie but she couldn't do appropriate performance in this movie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/20/25 Full Review Lovell T The premise may be preposterous, the atmosphere and involved performance nonetheless warrants a curious, if not intriguing. watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/20/25 Full Review Robert K It had potential, but ultimately ended up really flat and very rushed towards a conclusion. A lil more effort would have actually made it watchable. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/25 Full Review Read all reviews
