Gabriel Luna

Gabriel Luna was born and raised in Austin, Texas. His father died tragically before Gabriel was born, thus leaving his mother, who gave birth to him at the age of 15, to raise the young boy. He may have had the misfortune of growing up without a father, but Luna was also intensely focused on making a name for himself. He attended St. Edwards College in his native Austin, and soon gravitated to the school's thriving theater department. He made his debut stage appearance as Romeo in Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," and from there knew he had found his calling. During college Luna made his film acting debut by appearing in a small independent drama called "Fall to Grace" (2005). The film debuted at the 2005 South By Southwest Film Festival to rave reviews, thus instilling in Luna the confidence he needed to make a serious go at it as an actor. Over the next few years Luna landed a number of supporting roles in films like "Dance with the One" (2010), "Spring Eddy" (2012), and the black comedy "Bernie," the latter of which was directed by Oscar nominee Richard Linklater. Then in 2014 Luna landed his biggest role to date as Tony Bravo in the El Rey Network's crime series "Matador." The show, however, was canceled after its first season. Undeterred, Luna followed that up with a small role on the second season of HBO's "True Detective" (2014- ), as well as a starring role as an LAPD detective on the crime anthology series "Wicked City" (ABC 2015).
