Audience Member Loved the send up of Ken Burns films. Lightly funny, I thought it was an amusing tale Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a film that creeps up on you... Is it real? Is it not? Like Thomas Pynchon BoPWC blends historical fact and fiction into a wonderful, funny tapestry. Wonderful period images or recreated reminiscent of Woody Allen's "Zelig." It doesn't whack you over the head -- this is a thinking person's comedy. Sends up PBS, Ken Burns and history. If you hate pretentious historical documentaries you'll love Battle of Pussy Willow Creek. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a wonderful tongue-in-cheek mockumentary. Well written, wonderfully directed and entertaining. Very creative take on the civil war. I highly recommend this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie definitely puts things into perspective on how times have changed and not changed since the civil war, while at the same time being just good ol' entertainment! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Awesome satire of the PBS torture doc. Viva the pussy willow! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Basil Tsiokos indieWire An obvious labor of love, the film successfully comments on gays in the military, racism, xenophobia, and sexism in a sly, entertaining manner throughout. Jul 9, 2013 Full Review Steve Dollar Wall Street Journal In some ways, its comic license is no more a betrayal of history than some of the liberties taken by Steven Spielberg and "Lincoln." Jun 25, 2013 Full Review Ronnie Scheib Variety Satisfyingly sends up pious History Channel-style treatments of the conflict, gathering steam and inspiration as it progresses. Jun 25, 2013 Full Review Frank Lovece Film Journal International Unfunny mockumentary parodying Ken Burns' filmmaking. Mar 1, 2013 Full Review Kam Williams NewsBlaze Even though this overambitious mockumentary misses the mark, first-time writer/director Wendy Jo Cohen exhibits sufficient potential to make me curious about her next venture. Rated: 1/4 Mar 1, 2013 Full Review Nora Lee Mandel Film-Forward.com Picture- and letter-perfect send-up of such serious treatments of history as . . . Ken Burns' Civil War. . . The most chuckles over a history lesson since Mel Brooks. Rated: 8/10 Feb 25, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews
