Audience Member 170117: Viewing in 2017, the Indian method of wooing a white woman leaves a lot to be desired but provides many a laugh. How bad some of these older films can be. With the Battles of Chief Pontiac, the good thing is, all the First Nations representatives seem to understand English very well. They also conveniently speak it enough to communicate; though it's 1950s Hollywood style. This is not really a bad film; it's just a bit culturally dated. The quality of acting is pretty good and there are some intriguing character but the story conveys how people were thinking nearly seventy years ago. This viewing of the film, it was already rated on Flixster, brought a greater appreciation of the art contained within. If you can overlook all the stereotyping, and some other minor foolishness, there is a decent story to be taken in. Enjoy.
