dlma1 M @dlma1 Aug 9 I have a large collection of movies and documentaries about WWII, and I wanted to add this one to my collection because it was allegedly a good docudrama about the building of the atomic bomb. I was sorely disappointed. The film unnecessarily plays fast and loose with the facts and in many places, it almost seems like a campy parody rather than legitimate drama. Examples of factual errors include the dropping of flyers over Hiroshima and a death of a scientist on Tinian; neither one happened! Campy lowlights include the horrible dialog between fictional scientist Matt Cochran (Tom Drake) and his wife (Beverly Tyler). And there were questionable casting choices of Hume Cronyn as Oppenheimer and Brian Donlevy as General Groves. Overall, I cannot recommend this film as a serious docudrama as it almost qualifies as candidate for a place on Mystery Science Fiction Theater 3000. 5/10.
