Wealthy Moroccan sheik Ishak (Ferdinand Mayne), believing himself to be the true owner, dispatches his henchmen to steal a champion Arabian stallion, the Black, from its young caretaker, Alec Ramsay (Kelly Reno). Determined to recover the horse, Alec follows the sheik back to Morocco, where his pleas for the stallion's return fall on deaf ears. When Alec learns that Ishak plans to enter the Black in an upcoming race, he settles for training the horse's new jockey -- for the time being.

The final race is botched by so many parallel story lines that we lose track of where the stallion stands in the race. And the movie is sometimes so overcome by its own beauty that it forgets to be about anything.

The poetry and mysticism evident in the 1979 sleeper hit The Black Stallion is nowhere to be found in The Black Stallion Returns, a sequel that plays more like an adventure tale from a vintage Boys' Own periodical.

Felt like an unnecessary sequel with boy travelling from NY to Casablanca and surrounding desert to retrieve the stolen Black Stallion. Unfamiliar with culture and language and several near death experiences does nothing to deter this youngster.

Synopsis
