Udita Jhunjhunwala Firstpost Unfortunately, and not unlike the original, The Body places more emphasis on answering the question of why rather than how. Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 16, 2019 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Everything in it is flat: the plot, the performers, the alleged twists. And that must have taken some doing, given that the filmmakers had a ready-made plot to dip into. Rated: 1/5 Dec 16, 2019 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV It is disappointing that The Body isn't quite the film it could have been. Rated: 2/5 Jul 14, 2020 Full Review Prathyush Parasuraman Film Companion A missing dead body, a suspect adulterous husband, and a Mauritian monsoon backdrop. I wish the movie was half as exciting as this pitch. Dec 16, 2019 Full Review Monika Rawal Kukreja Hindustan Times Emraan Hashmi's comeback to murder mysteries is a lacklustre affair. The film, also starring Rishi Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala, suffers due to its dry narrative. Dec 16, 2019 Full Review Pallabi Dey Purkayastha The Times of India Since it is confined within the walls of a mortuary and spans over a period of eight hours, this murder mystery tends to lose its grip over the audience early on. shanto v very poor remake of korean thriller " the vanished ". Emran Hashmi acting is pathetic..the worst of his career. ! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/09/23 Full Review Audience Member First of all, I would like to express my gratitude towards all my readers for taking out time to read my film review. This past weekend, I saw the movie The Body (2019). Since it is inspired by the famous Spanish film with the same title, I thought to review it. The film starts with an unknown car accident. Then the plot shifts towards the antagonists of the film. A dead body is missing from the Forensic Laboratory of Port Louis. SP Jairaj Rawal (Rishi Kapoor) is called upon to investigate the matter. As the body was of the wife (Maya Verma- Sobhita Dhulipala) of Ajay Puri (Emraan Hashmi), he becomes the prime suspect. The rest of the story follows the investigations. The series of events are shown very slowly in the film. The filmmakers make me wonder if they are running out of content and are compelled to make a one-and-a-half-hour movie. The story has now become very very old and the music is rather fine. But still, the film lags that essence. Means, more than two- thirds of the movie is over, and still, nothing great is shown. Sometimes they use Emraan's girlfriend or his student Vedhika to grab the audience's attention. In short, I don't have much to say about this piece of crap. The acting of every actor is fine. Direction & screenplay are also fine. I would give it a rating of one star and that too for those only who don't have any ties with the storyline and just want to do some time pass.
