Audience Member A fantastic Hallmark Theatre movie from 1973 based on the book published by the English author, Mary Norton in 1952. This used to be a regularly offered family film on TV. It's sad that some reviewers can't appreciate it for what it is, and can only complain that it isn't full of CGI special effects like new movies. It's still a good movie. My only caveat is that the distributor couldn't obtain a better quality print. Makes you appreciate the work Criterion Films is doing to save and remaster deteriorating celluloid film classics. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was one of my faves as a kid. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Even for an early 70's children's movie this was just awful. A kid nowadays would piss my pants with laughter as they saw how cheesy and old the effects were on this. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Weird and creepy...very cheesy, but somewhat enjoyable despite that. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I never knew this version of the story existed. For a television production, the special effects aren?t too bad. It's a good story and it would be hard to make a poor film out of it. Nicely done, it's entertaining. Although it isn't as good as the 1997 version, it holds it's own. The adult actors do fine, the juvenile actors however are not very good. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member 60/100. I never knew this version of the story existed.
