MACI T I cried and am still crying after this movie, I'm quite literally ruined and cannot believe the ending. I recently re-discovered this movie after watching it throughout my childhood and I've never genuinely watched the movie like I just did. There's definitely a lot of...references that flew over my head when I was younger and going back to the ending I just can't bro I'm gonna cry again just thinking about it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/15/23 Full Review Cindy H its kind of tim burton-y with steampunk elements. love the music in the movie, its one of my favorite things about the movie! but just so you know, this movie doesn't have a happy ending Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/21/22 Full Review Audience Member A seriously underrated French film, Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart is a memorable romantic fantasy musical with surreal animation, not being afraid to deal with darker themes, boasting great, visually memorable musical numbers without feeling like an advertisement for the band's same-named concept album and having a more unique atmosphere, leading to an ending that's definitely quite ballsy given the target audience. Then again, it's a French production so maybe I shouldn't think about it too much in Hollywood terms. My only criticism is the hit-or-miss voice acting in the English dub, which is a shame because the script is honestly quite decent, but to be fair, they did have to rush the line readings in order to keep up with finished animation that had its lip-sync rendered with a French audience in mind. An imaginative animated movie that isn't afraid to be darker than the norm and truly worth your time, if you're an animation enthusiast. A nice change of pace from your average Hollywood production. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I LOVE a weird movie - it's weird great though! Takes your mind out of real life, and actually put my phone down - Reminds me of a Tim Burton movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member WHY DO THEY HAVE LIVE ACTION EYES? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member My son has love this movie for years. He first fell in love with it when he was 2. He is now 7. Some people say its way to inappropriate for little kids but to me all Disney movies have been inappropriate and violent. Idk my personal preference but my son loves it and once he gets old enough to understand some of the things I will explain to him. Its also not an American movie. So the parents complaining, stop being a Karen. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Charles Solomon Los Angeles Times "Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart" stubbornly remains less than the sum of its parts. But its rich visual imagery suggests the talented artists involved could create something exciting and truly original if they had a better script. Sep 23, 2014 Full Review Rob Humanick Slant Magazine The film is at once enabled and hindered by its utter strangeness, an intrinsic quality surely exacerbated in its English-language release. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 21, 2014 Full Review Peter Debruge Variety Malzieu has created a fully-realized, wildly imaginative storybook world and populated it with eccentric characters. Mar 17, 2014 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net In spite of problems I still enjoyed watching it. Rated: C May 2, 2019 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Sunday Age The story is scratchy, and Malzieu's songs don't always translate well, but the visual aesthetic is tactile and sublime. Rated: 3/5 Jan 7, 2018 Full Review Tim Brayton Alternate Ending Learned all the right lessons from early Tim Burton, concocting a whole world full of distorted, horrific visions and treating them with unadulterated, unapologetic joy.
