Art B This is a beautifully shot movie, with few distractions from the photography and ambient sounds, because it has no dialogue. The cast is international with a number of the actors being from the Balkans, Russia and one lead from France. The premise is original and amusing, as it involves a recently retired railroad engineer's quest to find the elusive owner of a woman's bra that gets stuck on the front of his train just before his retirement. So he ventures from his hillside village to the larger town where he has seen a fleeting glance of a woman wearing this same bra. The rest of the amusing plot is a play on Cinderella, except his quest is to find the woman who perfectly fits the bra. Again only with ambient sound, absolutely no dialogue. This is definitely an international art film, filmed in dry and rustic and far from the developed Euro grid or tourist routes, perhaps in Bulgaria or Turkey. It's open acceptance of the human body, no special effects, and slow stately changes of camera shots make clear me it wasnot targeted for American audiences. But it's a memorable film, warm, funny and touching. Kudos to Amazon prime video for streaming it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/23 Full Review Christine F Charming and compelling! Even without dialogue, it conveys everything and more. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/18/23 Full Review Keith B Very interesting and strange. Has its funny and disturbing moments. Recommended. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/18/23 Full Review Constance C J A blend of The Red Balloon, in that there was no dialogue, nor was it necessary and a search for the owner of the fancy bra that was caught off the washing line by the train in a very tight location. A definite resemblance to Cinderella, minus a prince, Princess, or mutilated appendages, plus suspicious husbands. The part of the homeless boy who lives in a dog house and whose job it is to warn people relaxing on the rails is a very touching side line. . Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/23 Full Review mark d Charming little film. It says it's in English which is a bit deceiving. There's actually no dialogue whatsoever in the whole movie. What an accomplishment. It's a sweet tale about a train engineer in the remote area of India (I'm guessing). It shows his daily, boring life, until one day, a woman's bra gets tangled up on the front of the engine. He's then on a quest to return the bra to its rightful owner. Sounds boring, but I thought it was very engaging, in a very subtle sort of way. Just a delightful, well-acted story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review daniel m Not perfect, but enjoyable and quite a tour-de-force to make a whole feature film with no dialogue. Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Cowriter-director Veit Helmer generates enough interesting sight gags to keep this from getting monotonous. Mar 12, 2020 Full Review Anton Bitel Sight & Sound This absurdist scenario plays out with such breezy wit and wide-eyed charm that it overcomes any potential for creepy sleaze - and the rigorous lack of dialogue engenders a titty Tati for cinematic trainspotters. Feb 7, 2019 Full Review Cristina Aparicio Caimán Cuadernos de Cine A sincere film whose value lies in its simplicity, its innocent and unprejudiced gaze.
