Parsavage Its a bold move that second half. Corbet couldve been perfectly fine carrying out the themes of the first half into a decent drama, a pseudo biopic, something people want. But he makes the more personal choice. Its less popular but its arguably a better movie, just one the audience wasnt expecting. The film is told from a male perspective. At first its obnoxious you notice the male gaze, the themes of the story are inherently masculine, etc. But its intentional. It carries into the second half with Felicity Joness character and how Tth perceives her but it changes entirely after the trip to Italy. I skimmed over scenes from the whole movie, it recontextualizes everything. Down to the music. Down to the production design. Even a one-off line from before the opening credits. Its something of a horror story. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Tammy T I had high hopes for this movie, but the entire time it felt like nothing had transpired, the characters were not likeable or relatable in any way and often things didn't make sense or have any point to the story, especially the graphic parts. They didn't add to the narrative. It was entirely and unnecessary too long, but even if it had been shorten I'm not sure it would've solved the issue that nothing really happened both with Brody's character or the actual message of the film. At times the dialogue seemed really contrived and that the actors themselves didn't want to say it. The cinematography was good, but acting was hit or miss at times especially from the supporting cast. It ends with years ahead, not really telling you what happens to Guy Pierce or what Brody's character does and is not satisfying in any way. Again, unsure of what the point was for this story as there wasn't much of one. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/19/25 Full Review Jill Very good , in depth movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review STEPHEN K Way too long. Moved too slowly. Brody was excellent. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review inch12 unnecessarily long, but Great acting of Adrien Brody. Good music and cinematography, but the rest of the cast was not that great. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Madelon v This film is tough to watch but its worthwhile. Since the film is length and graphic I thought it was beneficial to insert an intermission! Adrien Brody portrayed Lazlo Toth to a tee. The nose but his face showed the pain he endured. He is a wonderful actor. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Read all reviews
