Attorney Perry Mason (Donald Woods) is asked to find long-missing heiress Janice Brownley (Anne Nagel), who was placed with a foster family when her mother, Ida (Mira McKinney), fled to Australia. Now, a woman calling herself Janice Brownley has turned up in town, but her wealthy grandfather, Philip (Gordon Oliver), believes she's an impostor. Mason and his secretary, Della Street (Ann Dvorak), manage to locate Ida -- just as "Janice" disappears and Philip is found murdered.
