dave d If there's a fine line between genius and insanity, Ike White blurred that line and for that reason you have never heard of his name. A significantly flawed man, with a talent for music, White is fascinating figure that was a blank canvas for filmmaker Daniel Vernon. Often, the tale gets muddled and it ends way too fast which left me wanting more. At 77 minutes, there may not be much more good to be said about the subject. It's the kind of story that will be made into a series or a film. It has to be. Someday people will know the name Ike White. Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Like White's music, this film is catchy and engaging, and it leaves its audience wondering why there isn't more. Dec 4, 2020 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter His music, as good as it is (you can hear the album in its entirety on YouTube) pales in comparison to his story, unearthed in this endlessly fascinating film. Dec 3, 2020 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills A very different but equally disturbing excavation... Dec 12, 2020 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue More than just an introduction to an obscure artist and his music, this fascinating documentary evolves into a complex look at a enigmatic man whose personal demons overshadowed his creativity and compromised his chances at fame. Dec 5, 2020 Full Review Michael J. Casey Michael J. Cinema A disarming act, and it works beautifully. Rated: 4/5 Dec 3, 2020 Full Review India Lewis The Arts Desk The stories were animated well and the cinematography excellent, fittingly dream-like. Its structure allowed for the interplay of different time periods and new revelations, making for a gripping story that was well worth a watch. Rated: 4/5 May 19, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
