Torn between his Odepous love for his mother who raised him alone, the seduction of his mom's friend, and some misleading religous group taking him in the wrong direction which all lead him to commiting the worst of crimes! quite dark, but amazing performance by all cast. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member My first experience with Egyptian cinema was this gritty (not to mention a bit grainy--they use real celluloid over there!) film about one teenage boy's life, already nightmarishly difficult by American standards, runs up against both an increasingly conservative popular moral code AND Cairene modernity. A very worthy and worthwhile movie that will also enrich anyone's study of Egyptian Arabic. I should say that the movie is 103 minutes of great story and acting. Unfortunately, it's 105 minutes long. The ending is organic, but not convincing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
