The strength of both the Combination films is that in John, Basha and Field have created a positive character, a role model who stands up against racism, intolerance and crime.

Many of the film's problems could have been solved with more money and time, but not all of them. As well as a better title, the film needed another draft, a tougher edit and a longer gestation.

Redemption continues in the tradition of its predecessor and prestige TV like East-West 101, provoking the audience with disenfranchised second-generation hostility, honest portrayals of ongoing racial tension and Field's texture of decaying suburbia.

Replete with swearing and a generous splattering of blood, Field - best-known as the hard-faced actor from Chopper and Two Hands - does a solid job compressing a grab-bag of storylines, including a slightly superflous romance, into a cohesive crime-drama.

I gave it three stars because I grew up in this life from merrylands and am friends with friends of George the main actor. Credit to him for having a go, and the movie is entertaining. To be a critic, the flow is lacking and editing is very average as well as directing.. But for a back yard aussie movie it's ok.

Iï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)ve seen many Australian ethnic movies ï¿ 1/2 1/2 in my time but this is up there with 1 of the best. George Basha is DeNiro like in this epic tale of modern day society and acceptance. I give this one a 6 stars ï¿ 1/2 1/2ï¿ 1/2Â?ï¿ 1/2 1/2ï¿ 1/2Â?
