Insurance salesman Michael is on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on the train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realizes a deadly plan is unfolding, and he is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy that carries life and death stakes for everyone on the train.

If the film is mostly disposable and too familiar, the initial face-to-face encounter between Neeson and Farmiga proves that talented actors can make lousy writing sound better. But that single moment is hardly enough to justify the rest.

If I wish that Neeson had an opportunity to show more gravitas in the throes of his sweaty unravelling, I recognize this is partly my disappointment that we didn't get his Unforgiven before he put this side of himself out to pasture.

Any movie doesn't have to be believable, like in reality, to be enjoyable. That would lean more to documentaries. Charismatic characters and an interesting story is all it needs to be worthy of a watch. So many other aspects of what makes a movie better than average just layer more compelling reasons to feel a part of the story and to be moved by the characters. This one was groovy and well worth the watch, but then I'm a sucker for a story with Liam Neeson in it.

for a movie to be enjoyable, it has to be believable, and this as the polar opposite. A commuter gets duped into killing a passenger on a train, by a mysterious woman, who gets off the train, what follows is a couple of collateral murders on the train as it bumbles it's way through the suburbs, ( (why did she need to dupe Liam Neeson into doing anything when she already had assets deployed on the train ) ludicrous fight scenes and implausible plot . use your time better, poke yourself in the hand with a fork for two hours,

The Commuter is a tense and twisty little thriller with a solid cast and strong direction from Jaume Collet-Serra. It’s not the most action-packed Liam Neeson movie — it’s more of a mystery/suspense story. Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite stick the landing—the story becomes increasingly convoluted and stretches credibility in the final act. Still, it's an entertaining ride overall, and worth a watch for fans of the genre or of Neeson's signature roles.
