Audience Member Concrete Cowboys features Tom Selleck and Jerry Reed as two good old boys travelling the country. We meet them in a high stakes card game, Jerry playing while Tom reads a book. They lose to a cheating local and get in a brawl only to find out that the local sheriff is in on the game. They are tossed out of the building and take revenge by using a machine to destroy the building and then escape in a tow truck with the sheriff in hot pursuit. I was reminded of Smokey and the Bandit and The Dukes of Hazzard as this movie unfolded (as well as Magnum P.I.). Morgan Fairchild is a beautiful singer who approaches the buddies in disguise asking for their help in finding her sister (she proves to not have one, it is simply a ruse). She asks them because they've been lodging in a detective's house when she comes to them for help (the detective had met them ages ago and extended them an invitation to visit and when they did, he just happened to be leaving town). As the duo try to solve the case, they get into all sorts of trouble. Good music, charm and wit unlike any other film makes this film a must see (for me at least). 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member I absolutely adored Concrete Cowboys (AKA The Concrete Cowboy, as it says on my DVD copy of the movie). I actually liked it quite a bit more than I'm willing to admit because, ultimately, it's not a great movie. What it is instead is simple and a bit of a curiosity because of its cast and its story. It's basically another in the long line of southern-fried films from the 70's when films like Smokey and the Bandit were really popular and CB movies were pretty popular at the time as a sort of subgenre. First of all you have Tom Selleck and Jerry Reed, both being quite charming and fun in their lead roles. Plus you have Morgan Fairchild in one of the major roles, as well as pop up appearances by Ray Stevens and Barbara Mandrell. It's a simple little mystery movie with some comedy and some stunt work that was all made for TV, but I found it absolutely charming and enjoyed it quite a bit. So ignore my rating for this one as I'm simply summing up what it is and not necessarily how I feel about it. I recommend you check it out if you haven't. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Love it! Love it! Love it! Jerry Reed (Aka, J.D Reed) dose a wonderfull job in this movie! If you're a Jerry Reed fan this is the movie for you! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Selleck and Reed are humorous and fun in this low budget comedy/mystery. A good fun watch. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This one should also be in your collection..
