Everyone is allowed a misfire once in a while. It's just too bad Urushadze's had to follow his highest-profile effort to date with this odd and off-key work, subjecting it to more attention - and disappointment - than it would have otherwise have gotten. Go to Full Review

As it ends, it leaves us with a feeling of anticlimactic incompleteness. Go to Full Review

Alain E @AlainE Jan 16 The ending leaves us a little unsatisfied because it comes as a surprise that the teacher is so twisted. However, overall this is a solid effort. A man who had a promising secular career, after profound personal loss decides to become a Greek Orthodox priest, the dominant religion in Georgia. As a remnant of his previous life he has a collection of DVDs that he projects for the people in the small village that he now serves. He is good intentioned and ethical. The scenes with the projected movies remind us a little of Cinema Paradiso. His interactions with the different parishioners are well depicted. There is respectful and accurate representation of Greek Orthodox mass. After the betrayal he suffers, he decides to move to a different locality. Well photographed and acted.
