Crash J @crashjatcko Jul 3 An ode to the old cozy Reiner/Guest mockumentaries, this is really an exercise in radical non-divisiveness. It never brings out the sharp knives for any of the characters, more or less relying on the audience to bring its own preconceived notions about the conspiracy community in with them. While it's a missed-opportunity comedically to not delve deeper into the fringe-of-the-fringe of society, it preserves the film's good-natured core. Ultimately, I don’t know if it has anything truly profound to say about the state of the world and the role conspiracies—theoretical or non—play, but the decision not to enter this culture war on either side conveys its own kind of message. That it’s ok to like someone you don’t agree with. Weird that needs to be said out loud. See more Dave G @Davegregorycinema Jul 1 The Conspiracist dresses up a sharp point in mockumentary clothing: Eric Sherlock’s flat-earth-to-round-earth conversion isn’t really the story — the story is what it costs him, and what it reveals about the people who never wanted the truth in the first place. Gabby Washburn’s arc, from true-believer to exposed grifter, gives the film its real teeth, and the script isn’t afraid to widen the target to other belief-driven denial (a young-earth jab lands harder than it has any right to). The static, deadpan camera work suits the format but drags the front half; the film takes a while to find its rhythm. Once it does, though, the comedy is genuinely charming, and the ConCon premise pays off well enough to make this one worth a second watch. 3.5/5 See more alexivan T @RT17194557 Jun 30 So much fun, so much heart! If your looking for a witty mockumentary...then i suggest you sea The Conspiracists! The film is filled with conspiracy theory and funny easter eggs that make this film a multiple watcher. A knee slapper indie film that is worthy of your time! See more John B @RT02776203 Jun 30 Great cast. Funny and humanizing script. I envision many of the characters’ stories developed into episodes of a series. I laughed many times during the film. Sit back and enjoy entry into the bizarre and ever-present world of the conspiracists. See more William M @RT25170838 Jun 30 The movie was so fun and well acted. Very unique and ambitious movie.
