Shayla S Such a disappointing movie Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/14/22 Full Review Audience Member Ridiculous. Teen age movie. Some teenagers. I know all teenagers are not stupid enough to watch this. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member the Best part of this movie was the 2 sandwiches I crushed while dipping both mayonnaise monsters into a steaming pile of Ketchup. Would rather play splatoon or read a hole NRA manual to be a better American then watch this shit show. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The movies location is about all that is worth mentioning after screening this disaster. What was missing was a sickly vampire or a muscle bound meat head with 2% body fat who wears legend of Zelda shoes. The short guy in the movie who hisses at everyone and can't stop watching the syfy channel was a real asset to the show. His character could really help in the sequel. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Sooooooo bad. So many things wrong. Just a few: no adults. no parents. no neighbors. HS girl lifting and throwing a 30 pound car battery like a candy bar. 15 year old boy being admitted to a hospital for surgery, and no one calling parents, AND he's back home in an hour or two. Multiple gunshots from a house and no one calls police. SO bad it's funny. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I was initially disappointed that it really doesn't have anything to do with Downers Grove in Illinois. I noticed mountains in the background and also looked up that it was indeed filmed far from Illinois in California. The town does not look like or really resemble Downers Grove in any way. Aside from that, the plot is completely ridiculous and made it unintentionally funny at times. I did find it to be a watchable thriller though, so it isn't nearly as bad as the flak it is getting would suggest. It's a decent teen horror movie with suspense. Peter Sobczynski RogerEbert.com Too dumb to be scary, too listlessly written and directed to be suspenseful and too unpleasant to work as camp ... Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 21, 2015 Full Review Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times It's especially unforgivable when the alleged Indian curse is only a red herring to distract viewers from the more pressing gender-based violence at hand. Aug 20, 2015 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety A messy hash of teen soap opera, stalker thriller and whatnot whose titular possibly-supernatural aspect is basically irrelevant. Aug 20, 2015 Full Review Matt Donato We Got This Covered The Curse Of Downers Grove is just another lackluster high-school-based thriller like the twenty billion that have come before it. Rated: 5/10 Aug 27, 2015 Full Review Brent Simon Paste Magazine The film sets up this curse hanging over the heads of its central characters, but doesn't plumb it for lingering tension, at least as far as it relates to the actual story. Rated: 3.5/10 Aug 26, 2015 Full Review Yasmin Kleinbart The Young Folks The Curse of Downer's Grove felt more like an extended episode of Pretty Little Liars rather than a horror film. Rated: 3/10 Aug 25, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews
