Lucia M Excellent, funny, quirky, and poignant. Outstanding performance by Michel LeBlanc. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review jesse o I thought this was a damn good movie right here because it does deal with something very real in a sweet and touching manner without coming across as over the top or overtly sentimental. It explores the relationship between a father and a daughter and seeing how the father's only way he can get to know Justine is through his friendships with her exes. He does this as he was away for most of Justine's childhood as he was touring throat world in a jazz band. Justine hasn't exactly been distant from her father but she keeps him as far away from her life as is humanly possible while still seeing him. And Justine drives an even bigger wedge between them when she finds out her father and his current wife are gonna have a child. Sometimes Justine comes across as unlikable and irrational, seeing how her father is such a fun man to be around, but at the same time her anger is understandable as it's clear that his absence in her life had a huge effect in the adult she became. Dating lots of guys and quickly dumping them for fear of getting attached. So the movie definitely explores some familiar themes but it does so in an entertaining manner and with surprising complexity. The acting is pretty damn good either as is the writing. I don't really have much to say, but this is a really good movie about the importance of family. Perhaps the pacing was a little iffy, but the movie is still worth watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Entertaining enough, especially on a rainy day. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member It was beautiful. So engaging, hearfelt and real. The movie was lingering for some time after watching. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member 5/5 --- Touching, funny, quirky story about a woman who has a father who always wanted a son...and how sometimes we dont know each other (our parents) as well as we think we do. This movie has the same song used from "Frances Ha"'s trailer, course this was first...and better film with good emotional impact/story and main character. Nicely shot with vivid colors. Reminds of me the song I loved in high schooled "Love, Salvation, The Fear of Death" by Sixpence None the Richer from "This Beautiful Mess": Love, Salvation, The Fear Of Death - lyrics well i'm staring straight into the face of hell you're so close and you can't even tell i'm so wrapped up inside because i don't have much to love horrified i reel from pits unseen falling off my pedestal of plentiful deeds as it crumbles down on top of me i contemplate my lack of love come and save my soul before it's not too late i'm not afraid to admit how much i hate myself all these gongs and cymbals ring inside my head surrendered body to the flames has singed the skin can't speak in tongues and even if i could it's nothing because i cannot love well i'm staring straight into the face of hell i'm so close and i can't even tell i'm so afraid i'll amount to nothing because i don't have much to love Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I saw this at a film festival and liked it - quirky in a good way.
