Stefan V Started out great with a good concept, then became terrible and unwatchable... terrible overall the end is ridiculously bad... too poorly funded to even really show the monsters... quit making low budget garbage! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Steven W You can tell there was some real talent behind the camera on The Devil Below, there is art in the photography and there are some decent actors. However the movie was designed around it's budget limitations, which meant limiting effects shots and having actors react to off screen threats to an extreme degree. That all might have been ok, but the real weak spot is the writing which weighs down the whole project. Characters who just met sacrifice themselves for strangers with whom they have no relationship and who would likely die anyway, the back stories and motivations are unnatural and often eyeroll inducing, and the dialogue can be cringey and out place to the circumstances. As a result there is no real tension. All that said if you are an aspiring filmmaker it's worth watching to see what you can accomplish even wirh little money. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Rachel W I am honestly shocked by the mediocre reviews. I consider myself a horror movie connoisseur and am incredibly picky. I thought this was a solid B-horror movie and the plot was legit; I really enjoyed it! I loved seeing the guy from the Mothman Prophecies in it as well. The movie is creepy af and the creatures were definitely scary. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/24 Full Review Kady H Horrible, unbelievably horrible. A third grader could write better dialogue. A mash up of stolen monsters from other movies and shows with zero pay off. Embarrassing honestly. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Christopher P It wants to be a low-rent "The Descent", and IMO it does a pretty good job! Some good creepy moments and some smart camera work. PLUS it was filmed just a couple hours from where I live! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Cristian s Cumplidora película de terror con bichazos. No llega a asustar nada que digamos pero la historia es bastante decente como el desarrollo de la protagonista. El exceso de oscuridad hacen que los efectos prácticos se vean bien. Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com The Devil Below is one of those films where I like the concept and the idea of it more than I do the finished product. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 7, 2021 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times The heroes have all been reduced to just one or two identifiable traits: One's a conspiracy theorist, one's a fortune-hunter, one's religious and so on. Mar 6, 2021 Full Review Paul Lê Nightmare on Film Street Upon further inspection, it’s obvious there’s more to this movie than what lies on the surface. Rated: 8/10 Jul 23, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies While it does stumble with a couple of head-scratching character choices and some all-to-familiar genre moments, there’s more than enough mystery and fleet-footed tension to keep things fun and entertaining. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 17, 2022 Full Review Daniel Gorman In Review Online The Devil Below isn't [a] hidden gem; honestly, it's destined to become anonymous streaming fodder and not much else. Jun 6, 2021 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media This horror movie is poorly shot and written and too dark, with no suspense and characters we don't care about -- but at least the monsters are kind of cool.
