[The Devil's Carnival] is dirty and gross yet captivating and horrific and beautiful and mesmerizing. It evoked feelings and emotions from me that other movies of this genre haven't done.

This movie isn't for everyone, but it damned well was made for me. Dark and sinister, it represents Hell as the very meaning of chaos, Rich color is used by contrast and the carnies themselves seem to be a family united by their "unfortunate" circumstance, led by the clever, erudite Devil Himself.

A pretty unique musical, with some great atmosphere and style. Most of the songs struggle pretty hard though, and it sinks the movie for the most part, but there are a couple effective numbers. And with its short runtime it makes it easier to give it a shot, see if it's for you. I'm interested in what they'd do with a sequel/remake, since they leave it on a bit of a cliffhanger.
