An old hermit (Ed Nelson) who lived outside of dusty Furnace Flats, N.M., dies, and his nephew, Nick (also Nelson), arrives in town. Everyone likes Nick at first, especially pretty Nell Lucas (Jean Allison), who used to deliver milk to his uncle. But strange things start happening in town: A man dies of poisoned goat milk; Nell's fiancé, David (Richard Crane), is horribly mauled by a dog; and the town drunk winds up dead. Everyone has reason to suspect Nick because he is a warlock.

Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Until the unfortunately rushed and abrupt ending, it proves to be a nifty little chiller. Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 8, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Stupid movie waste Blobbo time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Creepy, Effective, Low Budget "Twilight Zone" Era Shocker--All things considered, a pretty decent low-budgeter!! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Starting and ending with scenes that appear to be someone attempting to ripoff Bergman (and failing), with sequences of nonsensical conflict, stupid contrivances, and mumbo jumbo in between, "Devil's Partner" is a strange, often incoherent film. Pete Jensen (Ed Nelson) is a weird coot who lives in a dilapidated shack on the outskirts of a Southwestern town. The old man makes a deal with the devil in a bizarre opening sequence, becoming the youthful Nick Richards, who introduces himself as Pete's nephew. The townspeople are stunned, not only by the fact that Pete had any family, but kin as outwardly normal as Nick. The nephew sets up shop in his uncle's shack -- another contrivance: After being restored one's youth and vitality, why would one squander it on returning to one's god-forsaken hometown to screw with the locals? -- and begins waging a war of rather minor pestilence against his neighbors, with whom Pete didn't get along. This is the movie's plot: An old man had vague unfinished business with his fellow townsfolk, gets renewed by Satan, and elects to return home that he might mete out inconvenient justice on a handful of people. Oh, and he attempts to take some local woman away from her dense, self-conscious fiance; how devilish. Throw in some inconsistent mystical powers Nick stacks up post-Devil deal, and you've got the movie Ray Dennis Steckler never made. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Starts a little rough but is a generally decent older movie. Some of the plot points are just silly and make zero sense and what passes for 'horribly disfigured' in the '50s is a scratch on the face, but it was still an entertaining schlocky watch. Plus, a short runtime helps. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Not bad for a low budget film, it?s actually pretty well acted, and some names I easily recognize as well. It is indeed a bit hokey, but it held my interest, it was short and to the point. Nothing great but watchable.
