Synopsis
Tom Zubrycki captures the climactic struggle of Jose Ramos Horta, a Nobel Prize-winning political activist from East Timor who spends 24 years battling for his colony's independence. In 1975, East Timor suffers an invasion from Indonesia, and, after a 1991 civilian massacre at the hands of the Indonesian army, Horta and his cause are brought to international light. After Suharto's 1999 resignation as Indonesian president, East Timor finally finds independence, but Horta's trials continue.
