Bridget Byrne Boxoffice Magazine There is a peeping tom mood to this amusing and often surprising tale, which follows the fortunes of a dress from drawing board to ragged demise. Audience Member Directed by Alex van Warmerdam, the same director who brought the recently viewed Grimm to the screen, The Dress is another somewhat surreal tale that follows a dress from its conception through the manufacturing process, and as it is worn by its various possessors. Most of those who came in contact with the dress came to some mischief. If Grimm would have been rated PG, then this one would probably have to be R, with a good bit of nudity, adult situations, and a certain creep factor. With these two films under my belt, I can definitely say I am a fan of the director's work. Quite an interesting filmmaker with a unique vision. I have several more of his films all queued up. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member funny, weird and enjoyable Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member :A series of linked stories following the owners of a dress that always seems to bring bad luck to its wearer. Well-written, gloomy, quirky; but despite the linking device and several recurring characters, the stories lack a unifying thematic thread, beyond pessimism.
