The concept of the villain is a little silly, it's like what Freddy is to dreams, the Drownsman is to water, he can get you through any type of water whatsoever, the bathroom sink or even the washing machine. The acting was hit and miss, at points I thought, this is bad acting, but then other segments had me rethinking that thought. The Drownsman looked like one of the ghost/zombie pirates from Pirates of the Caribbean meets Swamp Thing. The audio was super messed up during the climax (I watched on bluray) as the screams were peaking and distorted. It's a pretty cool film concept, which they make work well. It isn't scary at all, at least not to me, but I was interested and satisfied the whole way through. The cast members each do good jobs. Michelle Mylett gives a decent performance as Madison, while Caroline Palmer, Gemma Bird Matheson, Sydney Kondruss and Clare Bastable support adequately as Madison's group of friends. Nothing to shout from the rooftops about, but this leaves a sufficient impression despite some plot flaws. Simply beyond belief. Seriously, just watch it. See more 02/23/2017 Okay, so this film has a killer cover/poster image, but everything else about it is just kinda cheesy. The basic story is after a year of struggling with a fear of water after almost drowning, a young woman's friends decide to have an intervention when she misses one of their weddings, like that was the final straw, since it inconvenienced the bride or something. When they delve into the mysterious figure she's been haunted by, they draw it to them and are now at the mercy of a supernatural figure, ho-hum. This was just really not what I was hoping it to be and it certainly never got as cool as that DVD cover. Rental? Or maybe just a pass? See more Read all reviews
