Rachel Wagner Rachel's Reviews (YouTube) This is really cute and shows some growth from Edward Burns as a writer Oct 17, 2025 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Filmmaker/co-star Edward Burns serves up another mix of sarcasm and sentimentality in this predictable comedy sequel. Taking place during the November-December holiday season, the movie is like reheated comfort food for people who are in the mood for it. Oct 15, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

VMI70 Carried forward "The Brothers McMullen" thirty years later. Another Ed Burns take on family and romantic relationships centered around the Irish American McMullen family, this time moved to gentrified Brooklyn from suburban Long Island. The family's romantic relationships are on some levels more complicated and more expansive than their suburban Irish American background in the first one, on others just similar issues to the first. If you liked the first movie, you will like this one. There are some things that seem rom-com formalistic, at times it could be mistaken for a Hallmark TV movie, and being from the NYC area, some of the scenes of Brooklyn streets, even in gentrified areas, with almost no people on them day or night seem unreal, and it might have been helpful to know what these people did for a living other than interact with each other,. You only learn that one is a plumber because that is how he is introduced into the plot. But it isn't a movie about life in the city, it is about Ed Burns' views of personal and family relationships. We may like it more than some, as we come from a NYC suburban Irish- American family and relate to some of it, but this time the people involved go well beyond just Irish American experiences. Certainly worth viewing, a bit surprised at it being presented as a single night Fathom presentation instead of a wider release. Maybe it is just a step towards a streaming release. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/16/25 Full Review Lisalynn Great movie about the mechanics of family life and the changes we face. So many couples involved but easy to follow the storyline. Great acting and plenty of laughs. I left with a smile on my face. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/16/25 Full Review Read all reviews
