Benjamin Franz Film Threat The Fetus is a creepy, weird, and wacky film. Rated: 8/10 Nov 3, 2025 Full Review Charles Johnston Spectrum Culture The Fetus wallows in a genre known for light-hearted dreck and guilty pleasure viewing but is also so spiritedly well-made that it feels like finding a gemstone at the junkyard. Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Though it has the potential to be a fun late-night watch, The Fetus feels inauthentic and unfocused—its strives for controversy and relevance but without a clear point of view. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 3, 2025 Full Review Norman Gidney HorrorBuzz A zany, gory, homage to the glory days of practical effects-driven horror that is consistently entertaining if at times a bit muddled. Hugo S A woman is tormented by her own pregnancy as she is terrified by a bloodthirsty fetus with killer instincts. Convinced she is being affected by the same curse that took her mother's life, the woman uncovers a dark family secret about the monstrous unborn child. "The Fetus" tackles generational trauma and the fears of parenthood through the lens of a troubled family exorcising their inner demons. The body horror imagery is a physical manifestation of the family’s worst nightmares. An unconventional story with plenty of gory moments, but it fails to engage the audience due to a lack of authenticity. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/01/25 Full Review Janecka O The lead performance by Lauren LaVera is strong: she carries much of the tension, discomfort and dread with believable physicality and emotional weight. Veteran horror icon Bill Moseley plays a father that will go to extreme lengths to protect his daughter. The creature-design and practical effects are grotesque, and it embraces the absurdity of a life form feeding off of you. At its core, the film is about anxieties around pregnancy, body autonomy, and transformation in a campy demonic way. The script sometimes leans on familiar horror tropes, and the character motivations or world-building can feel a bit thin or under-explored. With a low budget indie horror movie, we have to give grace where CGI maybe doesn't live up to your standards of Hollywood movies today. Overall, The Fetus succeeds as a bold indie horror piece that isn’t afraid to indulge its premise. For fans of body-horror and monster movies, it’s a treat. This indie horror film is memorable and worth your time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/27/25 Full Review Becky C You go into a film named 'The Fetus', fully knowing what you are going to get! And Joe Lam and the team certainly bought that!! A throwback to the horrors of the 80s with a zany plot and awesome practical effects! And for a lower budget horror, it has a fantastic cast! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/27/25 Full Review Brett M Lauren LaVera and Bill Moseley are great, but even they can’t save this movie from it’s terrible writing. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/30/25 Full Review John C This movie is so good I rewatched it again Lauren LaVera was so talented and good this movie give me chills bit it's so good.
