The Rev. Marc Anoux (Charles Boyer) contentedly led his seminary for many years, but has recently begun to have doubts. His old life as an attorney haunts him, and Marc wonders if he made the right choice by leaving it all behind. His troubles escalate when Monsignor Michael Carey (William Demarest) claims to have experienced a miracle in the presence of the local doctor (Lyle Bettger).
