When an unassuming sailor, Casey Kirby (William Holden), goes backstage for a famous actress' autograph, he winds up kissing her for a publicity photo. As it circulates, Kirby earns the reputation of a ladies' man among his friends. But when his friend Barney Waters (Eddie Bracken) bets that Casey can kiss the standoffish "Countess of Swingland" (Dorothy Lamour), he finds himself out of his league. With Barney as his wingman, Casey makes his earnest -- and bumbling -- move.

Aurelio Pego Cine-Mundial The interesting thing here is that Dorothy Lamour is in this movie. Everything else is incidental. [Full Review in Spanish] Sep 11, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Raucous Paramount musical with wonderful Johnny Mercer songs; Lamour croons "I'll Remember You," Jimmy Dorsey & His Orchestra introduce "Tangerine," and Hutton (in her feature film debut) sings "Arthur Murray Taught Me Dancing in a Hurry." Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Loud and busy but also kind of fun. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A shy and introvert sailor must kiss a popular big band vocalist in public to help a friend out of a betting jam. More a revue than a musical, outdated and with a paper thin plot, though there is still an air of nostalgia about it that some will find appealing.
