Felix R Effective british Shlock-horror, with a lurid-tragic edge. For years, this obscure gem has turned up in odd places. I first saw it on The CBS Friday Night movie, around 1970, when I would have been twelve. Now you can watch it on YouTube for free. An innocent young student is murdered by Nazi scientists who experimenting with cryogenics scheming to revive the frozen Nazi elite. Her head is removed and kept alive in the lab, where she is fully conscious of her situation, and able to contact friends through their dreams. It's like The Brain that Wouldn't Die, but if you bring some imagination to the experience, it's far more effective as horror. The last scene is unforgettable. The Frozen Dead deserves to be a cult classic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/08/23 Full Review dave s Despite some surprisingly passable production values and sporadically decent acting (if you can ignore some of the odd German accents), The Frozen Dead is ultimately sabotaged by its ludicrous plot. At the end of WW2, a large number of high-ranking German Nazis decide to have themselves frozen alive in order to avoid prosecution, with the hope of being thawed out at some point down the road. Twenty years later, Dr Norberg (Dana Andrews), a former Nazi scientist, struggles to successfully re-animate the evil dead, leading to all kinds of odd shenanigans. While it's not as horrible as it sounds, it eventually grows pretty tiresome as absurdities are piled on top of absurdities.
