      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Though this by-the-numbers true procedural seems basic, The Frozen Ground presents a welcome return for Nicolas Cage in a solid performance.

Jordan S I enjoyed this movie, the plot was kind of obvious but it was well directed and acted it's definitely worth a watch. 7/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review Sarah L This is one of the best thriller movies of all time. Especially given the fact it's all based on true events. The Frozen Ground grabs you from the beginning leaving you at the edge of your seat. This would have to be Nicolas Cage and John Cusacks' best performance EVER. The only reason this film didn't catapult when first screened would have to be due to the merger between Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment - which caused the rollout to be dramatically scaled back. This movie is beyond 5 stars! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review Samantha M James Maslow ("Easy A") Character Daniel O' Brian Big Time Rush Big Time Movie ICarly Star Funny Parody The Best Acting Annoying, But Very Comedy Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Nicholas Cage, John Cusack, Radha Mitchell, and Vanessa Hudgens Anchorage, Alaska 1983 A young prostitute has just been rescued after being held in a hotel room in handcuffs A state trooper stumbles onto the case involving a serial killer preying on women for 13 years This is actually based on the real life murders of Robert Hansen Cage plays the trooper Jack Halcomb Cusack plays Hansen, the man is viewed as an upstanding citizen with a wife and two kids so the authorities dismiss this young woman's claims But Halcomb is determined to save this young woman from ending up like the others since he couldn't save his own sister The plot comes off as standard more like something for a tv procedural The shaky cam can get excruciating for some and it is a very dark subject matter But Nicholas Cage comes back in good fashion after having a very lackluster track record The film is suspenseful, nail biting, and never slows down Covers one of the most infamous serial killers in U.S. history with the main victim Cindy Paulson finally having the courage to tell her story getting justice for all the others involved alive and dead The tone of the movie is very dark and mature but important Director Scott Walker has his cast give strong performances and allows the cold, cruel Alaskan setting to sink in Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/24/23 Full Review Dasha S James Maslow Easy A Star Will Gluck Very Richly Really Richly Feature Some Of The Best Examples The Best Acting Very Suspenseful Really Suspenseful Funny For All Ages Great WWE Movie!! Larushka Ivan-Zadeh metro.co.uk You’ll still find the tension has you gripping your seat, thanks to the taut cat and mousery between ol’ Con Air co-stars Cusack and Cage. Rated: 3/5 Sep 5, 2017 Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com "The Frozen Ground" trucks in cliche, as most serial killer and police procedural films do, but the strength of the acting (from the leads down to people with only one or two lines) helps ground the film.
