Like so many of the genre that hail from Seoul and its suburbs, this one punches well above its weight with an inventive reworking of well-worn plot tropes and slick production values. Go to Full Review

There's not much going on beneath the energetic surface, but for the most part The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil is a fast-paced, entertaining thriller buoyed by two engaging leads. Don't mess it up in translation, Sly. Go to Full Review

"The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil" is not a great film, but it's watchable because its star is Ma Dong-seok. The burly actor stars as a mob boss whose street credibility takes a beating when he is nearly killed by a floppy-haired serial killer. Go to Full Review

Action-packed thriller from South Korea about partnerships and competition in hunting a killer; a perfect film from Lee Won-tae apart from a few clichés. Go to Full Review

Yolanda D Jul 17 The fact that it's such a great movie for and I've watched it so many times already. Plus the fact that a bad guys did something so good I love watching him act so good at it. See more Ash @Ashley190 Jul 7 Great movie! A nice change up on the usual “rogue cop catches serial killer” trope by adding in the team-up between the cops and the gangsters. Really enjoyed this one- perfect amount of action and humor (I could have done with even more humor tbh!). Definitely recommend if this niche is your thing when it comes to Korean movies! Both male leads did a fantastic job! See more Lars N @movie_douche Jun 29 Dumb to a fault - and not in a good way. Void of logic it is hard to care for anything that happens. Also both the cop, the serial killer and the gangster are all horrible, unlovable people non of whom are worth rooting for. See more Rehan May 5 One of the best thriller movies. Very sad story, though... See more Sarfaraz A Apr 9 This South Korean crime film was directed by Lee Won-tae, and the opening credits reveal that it is based on a true tale. Ma Dong-seok stars as the gangster who works with the cop to track down the devil, who purposefully smashes into people's automobiles and brutally stabs them to death. Ma Dong-seok, who was also assaulted by the same serial killer, escapes the attacks due to his defensive skills, but is injured and vows to get revenge on the attacker on his own. Ma Dong-seok in a semi-negative character was shocking and unnerving at first, but then everything seemed to go well. The film explores the impotence of individuals in positions of power, such as the cop and the gangster, who are unable to track down the killer in time, despite the fact that he has killed many, including those who have recently come into contact with the cop and the gangster. The film also reminded me of Fritz Lang's classic thriller "M (1931)", which starred Peter Lorre.
