Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com “The Gardener” suggests that Van Damme still doesn’t know how to both give his audience what they want and show off his range. Rated: 2/4 Jun 7, 2025 Full Review Alan Ng Film Threat In the end, The Gardener is a ridiculous blend of political thriller and action comedy that somehow manages to entertain despite its many flaws. Rated: 6/10 Jun 9, 2025 Full Review Luke Y. Thompson ill LYTeracy (Substack) ...after 90 minutes watching Serge, you'll probably want him dead too, for far more superficial reasons. Jun 6, 2025 Full Review Josh Bell Crooked Marquee The fight scenes are relatively sparse in the interminable 110-minute movie, which spends far more time on Youn's mugging than on Van Damme's still-formidable roundhouse kicks. Rated: C Jun 3, 2025 Full Review Shikhar Verma High on Films Even though the film suddenly wants it to be taken seriously, the charm of Van Damme’s screen presence, coupled with Youn’s dedication to commit to the wackiness of his character, makes “The Gardener” a fun time. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 2, 2025 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com “The Gardener” seems like a farce for the taking, but Charhon doesn’t lean into the comedic possibilities of the premise, and the small-scale endeavor just isn’t funny, fumbling gags while Van Damme rises up every now and then to take out bad guys. Lukas S I grew up a huge Van Damme fan, still a fan and I gave this a chance due to the re teaming from the director of "The Last Mercenary" and Van Damme for this film and I had a blast watching this one, yes the movie had it's flaws and all but if your a Van Damme fan and you want to watch a movie to where he looks to be having the time of his life making this film, give it a chance as it may surprise you, or it may not. If your looking for that next Oscar winning film then turn away now, if your looking for a fun watch then give it a go. Bravo to Mr. Van Damme, it is still nice to see that he is still making movies regardless. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/17/25 Full Review Stephen C Funny in 1 hour and 50 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
