Tunley confirms his mastery of macabre moods here. Now he needs a bigger budget and a broader canvas. Go to Full Review

First time writer/director Gareth Tunley marshals the meagre resources of this micro-budget psychological thriller and creates a pleasingly perplexing enigma of a movie. Go to Full Review

The Ghoul is at its best when we think it's a psychological crime thriller but loses energy once we discover it's more about mental illness. Go to Full Review

Writer/director Gareth Tunley's moebius strip of a movie is a puzzle piece like "Memento" crossed with the satanic tone of executive producer Ben Wheatley's "Kill List" and Simon Rumley's "The Living and the Dead's" unsettling portrait of mental illness. Go to Full Review

nick s 07/31/2024 Some nice cinematography to kick off. Unfortunately the story was so disjointed I eventually gave up on it. Reading other reviews it doesn't sound like it got any better. No matter how clever the story is, it still needs cohesion on screen. Sound wasn't the best either. See more donna m @DonnaM 10/12/2020 I can't believe I wasted my time watching this movie, thinking that at some point it will get better and also makes sense. In the too5 of worst movies I have seen. If you're watching this and feel like you missed something, don't worry, that's just The Ghoul. See more 12/21/2018 When you read the plot synopsis it makes sense. Not so when you actually watch the film. I found it not only confusing, but depressing and ultimately pointless. As an exercise in wasting your evening I suppose it works. To sum this production up in one word: pointless. See more 04/29/2018 The most exciting part of this film is the blurb on the box. It's a boring, vapid, depiction of mental illness which somehow manages to neuter an original premise. Pretentious, grey and unfulfilling. Avoid. See more Read all reviews
