Audience Member I thought that all the characters were really already dead. They met up in the dark scary memories of past existence. They seem to drive in shadowy night with others who reappear just there in the dark. I got a real big sense of being trapped. A sense of not moving on. A nightmare almost. A reenactment of a party they all attended is going to be set up. This was their last party as high school students but I sensed that they gathered in a familiar place. The houses are all emptied and appeared that no one lived in them for years. At the party sounds are heard and the giant looms large like a tornado. They all run out into the night but not charlotte. Then she seems to have a choice to join them. There are two doors. She chooses another door. With this Charlotte and her friend are back in the car driving. This is how the movie began. BUT ALAS, the mom dying is never explained. The Giant is never explained, and the murders are never explained. IF this was part of a series it left too many questions that by the end of the movie no one will care about, but just be glad the agony is finally over. Well written scripts can be ruined by a director trying to be M night shamalam! It's such a gorgeous movie to look at, it's so beautifully shot. It's very spine tingling and gets under your skin for how real it feels. Not a movie for everyone because general audiences today need straight forward and easy to understand plots. It's a movie that deserves to be talked about more and analyzed more. Definitely shouldn't be forgotten about like it never existed because it seems like it's heading in that direction and I won't let it.
