Koda _ Decided to watch this after the excellent 'The Social Dilemma', but was left overwhelmingly bored at times. Some interesting parts, but way too drawn out with very little keep any of our attention. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/23 Full Review Jose Raul B Nice documentary. It shows an accurate radiography of what happens inside the Big-Tech companies and the business with our data. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/23 Full Review David F A really interesting documentary about the way that social media and advertising were used in the 2016 presidential election. It doesn't completely get to the bottom of it (and I wish it had more detailed information about what exactly Cambridge Analytica was up to) but nevertheless a very informative documentary about the way we live now. I especially appreciated the emotionally revealing confessions of Brittany Kaiser, a social media executive who got her start working for Obama and ended up with the Trump campaign. The brief story she tells about her family getting swept out of their home by the global financial crisis and the disparate pay on offer from her from Democrats and Republicans says a lot and really gets to the heart of the matter both in her life, and in our politics. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/23/23 Full Review Rajeev M very boring not engaging Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/27/23 Full Review phil w Sad that important documentaries like this and "The Social Dilemma" don't get as many viewings as blockbusters, as these documentaries are showing how "free" social media sites are manipulating adults AND kids. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member So real, so intense and also a great warning to us now and to the future, this documentary illustrates very well our problem with data in the web world. It is didatic and urgent, everyone should see it to create critical thoughts and understands the importance of data rights as human rights too. Scott Bryan BBC.com I think the problem about this documentary is that it makes so many different sweeping generalisations. Jul 15, 2020 Full Review Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader [A] provocative, buzzy documentary. Feb 21, 2020 Full Review Peter Rainer FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) This is a scary movie... [And] there's a lot of interesting characters. Oct 2, 2019 Full Review Brett Michael Dykes Uproxx We live in a world connected with most of our interactions happening online. It's great but, as this doc shows, it's also terrifying. Dec 29, 2021 Full Review Taylor Baker Drink in the Movies If you want me to save you roughly two hours, data rights are important and we need to talk about how to categorize them and hold large data companies accountable. Rated: 45/100 Aug 19, 2021 Full Review Candice McMillan KOMO News (Seattle) Great documentaries strike a cord that reverberates back into the world ... If the legal threat dangling over Netflix is any indication of its successful dissemination of truth, then perhaps we are in for a load of trouble. Jan 28, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
