Spencer M This was an impactful movie. Made me decide once and for all NOT to be a teacher. Too many creepy, manipulative, evil people in this world -- and too many of them have children. Sad. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/30/22 Full Review Audience Member A little rushed with the resolution, some of the dialogue needed fine-tuning and a few supporting actors should have their equity cards ripped from their hands. But, all in all, it's a decent attempt at a difficult subject. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A movie about all kind of prejudices.I liked the story although I found it didn't very well stress the main aspect of the plot.It managed to make me keep my doubts over the main character and that kept me hooked and wanting to watch more. The performances were lovely but for me the exceptional ones were Jackson and Ormond. The final twist and the fact that I never saw it coming was the turning point for me,where I thought that all this was worth my time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was sadly overlooked, not even getting theatrical release. It had excellent performances from all in it, and Jason Butler Harner and Cheyenne Jackson were magnificent. A really engaging, moving movie that deserved a lot more attention. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely phenomenal, I love how it takes you into a situation and shows you how life is for a gay couple and some problems they run into. I also love how it leaves room for the audience to decide what's next for them. It was enough to leave me hopeful and in happy tears. Definitely recommend for the gay community and everyone alike. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Basically a Lifetime movie. Not a horrible premise but nothing new or interesting. A couple of gay guys escape from the madness of NYC city life to enjoy the serenity of a small Connecticut town. One of the men is a teacher who takes a troubled student under his wing. Redneck janitor daddy sees it as something more and out come the accusations. So it's not a horrible story but it plays out sooo predictably. The lovers begin to quarrel as their lives fall apart from the accusation. The accused has a hidden past though it's basically nothing. The kid runs away from home and makes a dramatic return. Some say the supporting cast is great. I think mostly the entire movie was flat. Again, Lifetime-esque and definitely a lower-budget flick. The point of the movie is obviously the gay lifestyle and what it means in smaller communities. Rights are addressed, and the obvious scorn of anything different is highlighted. But just because it is so damn predictable, I was able to read throughout and still keep up with the story. And for that, it's a 5/10. Craig Takeuchi Georgia Straight Overall, though, the film provides an engaging dramatization of a worst-case scenario faced by a gay couple forging their lives in uncharted territory. Aug 7, 2018 Full Review David Noh Film Journal International Bare-budget drama of gay male couple whose "accepted" existence in a small Connecticut town gets overturned when the teacher half is accused of impropriety. Nov 7, 2011 Full Review Brent Simon Shockya.com Three-fifths of a good movie -- a generally well sketched drama that fumbles away its accrued admiration late in the third act, with a twist that feels like a sop to audiences of small screen procedurals.
