This movie manages to do correctly what a film like Don't Look Up did so badly, which is to have a political point of view and believe in it while knowing that not everyone on your side of the camp is great while not everyone on the other side is evil.

Here we have a wonderful idea for a film with numerous strong scenes, well put together, with the strengths of sympathy and nuance. Unfortunately, for me, it all led to a muddled and dispassionate anticlimactic conclusion unworthy of the film leading to it. Note also that the film is a drama, not a comedy.

So funny, so moving. So mature. So refreshing to see someone from Hollywood treat the rest of the country like they're not idiots. Such important themes, but never heavy handed. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

The main character made the film hard to watch in the beginning. Completely obnoxious and almost psychotic. A couple of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes said the movie made all characters sympathetic and showed neither side is all good or all bad but those comments are completely false. The movie made the Democratic candidate look like a horrible, rotten person. But for a film written, staring and directed by the same person, a red flag normally, it's not bad at all.
